Peace Lutheran Church is on an exciting journey. Empowered by the Holy Spirit to worship Jesus Christ and live a vibrant faith, we are working to spread the love of Christ. Peace has a new building, new staff, new people and new ministries. The willingness of our members to serve and give are signs of our future capacity to grow in our mission. Thanks be to God. In 2007 we purchased our property and renovated the existing buildings.
Peace was born in Columbia, Tennessee in 1988. With GM building the Saturn plant just a few miles to the north in Spring Hill, GM began transferring many UAW workers from northern states. Lutheran pastors in the area wanted to reach out to these people so Peace became an informal preaching point until July of 1990 when mission developer Mark Saline was called as Pastor. Peace was officially organized in 1994. In the late 1990’s Peace Lutheran Church had not been able to secure a permanent location for worship and ministry and moved several times. In February 2000, Pastor Saline took another call and Peace then had several part-time supply pastors.
In January, 2003 Pastor Eric Pearson was appointed by the Bishop as the part-time Transition Pastor. Peace was faced with the difficult decision to either close or move approximately 13 miles north to the booming community of Spring Hill, Tennessee. In July of 2003 Peace Lutheran Church decided to risk all of its remaining resources and relocated to Spring Hill. For about the next two years Peace Lutheran Church, Columbia gave birth and life to Peace Lutheran Church, Spring Hill. In December of 2005, Peace Lutheran Church called their second full-time Pastor, Rev. Dr. Ann Bassett and has been growing and thriving in ministry ever since.
During the first year we were in our new home, 18 new ministries occurred in addition to all the tried and true favorite ministries of Peace. We have also made our property and buildings available to community groups. At this time there are multiple groups that use the building on a weekly basis and we hope to offer that ability to others who want to do good in our community.
